The Week’s Market Analysis

  • An unusual trade pattern was Rwanda exported pigeon peas (177MT) to DRC. Rwanda grows pigeon peas mostly for export to DRC.
  • The price of Kenya’s locally grown Pishori rice reached record high retail price of Ksh200($1.93)/kg, this is because there was very limited stock in the last season. The current rice harvest is expected to reduce the price of Pishori to about Ksh160($1.54)/kg, as the rainfall in the current harvest season was much higher than the previous one.

Did you know the Kenya Pishori rice like wine taste and smells better with Age? Now you know!
